How we work

Steel Framed Homes specialise in light steel-framed building solutions and the supply of building materials.

Driven by your custom building requirements, our end-to-end steel frame housing solution is responsible for the design, documentation, engineering and importation of materials through construction using local resources (or in-country training of local workers in developing countries).

Your custom steel home progresses through 5 stages; consultation, design, materials engineering, supply and construction.

Consultation

Each project presents particular design challenges, especially when designing buildings in remote locations and developing countries.

In this essential first step, we meet with you to discuss your needs, wants, and constraints.

Our consultation includes an assessment of site location, topography, climate, people group, the volume of homes required, transport constraints, available building materials in the region and availability of workforce.

What you get

  • Site visit

  • Assessment of project viability

  • High-level project plan to ensure a smooth and efficient building program (including timing, costing and resources)

Design

At this stage, we work together with you to design your custom Steel Frame Home. Of utmost importance is a review of how you, your family and community lives.

The goal is to ensure that the custom design focuses on not only what you want, but what you need. If you and your family like spending time all together in the one space, we will guide you towards designing rooms and spaces that empower you to support your lifestyle.

We work with you to design a custom home, one that functions for your needs and consider all:

  • Structural elements (including number and size of rooms, "feel of space")

  • Cladding style considerations (Beach, Cottage, Hamptons, Brick, Colorbond etc)

  • Cabinet requirements including kitchens and wardrobes.

What you get

  • Plans of the building(s) - optimised to minimise building material wastage.

  • Revision of plans

  • Environmental rating of the plan

  • Fire rating of the plan

  • 3D model of building plans to ensure accuracy in production

Materials Engineering

At this stage, the plans for your Steel Frame Home start to come to life through the production of materials.

We co-operate with international and local professional services to ensure that both the design and materials supplied are appropriate. This select group of experts, advise on project specifics on an as-needs basis, ensuring clear and effective communication. By optimising these professional services, Steel Frame Homes keeps our company overheads to a minimum, resulting in cost savings for you.

What you get

  • Quality control of engineering standards by our international manufacturers, certified by Australian Engineer Brian Reed of Reed Engineering based in Perth, Western Australia.

  • Assurance that imported material’s ability performs in a manner set out by Australian building legislation, which are among the highest in the world.

Most importers of building materials are retailers, not professional designers with a specific building outcome to achieve.

As part of our service, Steel Frame Homes ensures that the materials produced for your custom steel frame homes are fit for purpose, shipped and arrive on site.

What you get

  • Materials are test assembled then disassembled prior to leaving international suppliers locations to ensure that they have been accurately manufactured and ensuring assembly delays are minimised.

  • Materials packed in precise order to ensure rapid unloading at destination building site

  • Transportation logistics organised.

  • Import tariffs and duties are paid.
